One of the great perks of being a teacher is that you get to have weekends, Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer Break off. Well, this past week was supposed to have been my Spring Break. I didn't have anything planned for this week because Liam is still in school. He goes to school in a different district than the one I teach in, and our Spring Breaks aren't at the same time. Sure, I had the typical "to-do" list that I'd been adding to for weeks before break started. Clean out closets, clean out the garage, see a few movies, do some scrapbooking. You know, the usual. Unfortunately, it's the last day of my Spring Break and none of that has gotten done (aside from a few scrapbook pages yesterday--and hopefully tomorrow.) Why? I had to go and get sick.
Sunday morning of my first weekend off, I woke up with a horrible sore throat, earache, headache, body aches. I could barely get out of bed. I spent the next 4 days in bed. I drove the kids up to Mansfield on Wednesday for Sesame Street Live and it wiped me out.
So, it was mid-afternoon on Friday before I could say that I was feeling back to my old self. Two trips to the doctor, a penicillin shot and a round of antibiotics later, I had beaten back a nasty bacterial infection that just wouldn't let go Now it's time to head back to school. I feel so cheated out of a fun and relaxing week that I had been looking forward to for so long. So, not including a day off for Good Friday and a day off for Memorial Day, my next break is Summer Vacation, which starts on June 1st. Now that Spring Break is over, the time until that day is going to FLY!!!
